Overview:
ILGA

Founded in 1978 as the International Gay Association (IGA) at the Campaign for Homosexual Equality Conference in Coventry, United Kingdom. In 1986, it changed its name to the International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA). Later bisexual, transgender and intersex people were included in their target audience to become the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA). In 1996, ILGA-Europe was established in Brussels, Belgium, as a separate region of ILGA and an independent legal entity. Almost every year ILGA and ILGA-Europe hold Annual World Conferences, European Meetings and Regional Conferences for Eastern, Southeastern and Central Europe. In 1985, the first ILGA Pink Book was published.
